My playground

Welcome to my Playground. Here I share select experiments i have done across design and art — from quick sketches to speculative prototypes. These are explorations of possibility: raw sparks, unfinished ideas, and moments of play that continue to shape my practice.

Some of these play projects won awards and/or have been exhibited internationally to help facilitate a dialog.

Reimagining the Double Diamond with AI
Human-led inputs and AI-driven outputs, mapped across the Double Diamond to increase speed, clarity, and accountability.

We experimented with the Double Diamond to better reflect the influence of AI on our design process. This hybrid design model explicitly distinguishes what humans must own—intent, framing, ethics, prioritization, and decision-making—from what AI can accelerate—recruitment and scheduling, large-scale synthesis, concept generation, testing support, and post-launch monitoring. By making these roles visible across Discover, Define, Develop, and Deliver, the model enables faster iteration without sacrificing rigor or accountability.

The model was developed in response to misalignment and uncertainty the team was experiencing as AI tools entered the workflow. In practice, there was growing ambiguity around where to focus time and effort. This framework helped align teams by clarifying ownership, reducing uncertainty, and guiding people toward the work where human judgment creates the most value—while allowing AI to handle speed and scale.

Designed for complex, real-world product environments, the model supports continuous learning, clearer ownership, and more confident decision-making in an AI-augmented design practice.

This project was a collaboration with Sheba Najmi.

City canvas

An experiment in using open data as a medium for civic engagement. City Canvas visualized datasets from the San Diego Arts & Culture Commission, transforming numbers into an interactive platform that invited the community to explore and connect with local culture. The project was recognized with the ScaleSD Innovation Award, highlighting its potential to reframe how data can foster civic dialogue and creative participation. This project was a collaboration with a data scientist Michelle Hoogenhout

While the app is no longer functional, you can still follow the project on Instagram to explore art in the region.

Tools of expression

By stripping objects of their function and focusing on form, this experiment transformed mundane tools — from toothbrushes to mixers — into visual artifacts. These were a series of mini experiments. It was a way of asking: how does context change what we see in design?

Exhibited at Sikka, dubai 2011

Art of sound

What if sound could design? Art of Sound is a machine that visualizes audio in real time, creating abstract art pieces unique to each track. Instead of design directing sound, here sound dictates form — revealing new ways to see music.

Originally created using household items. In the image you see is version two of the experiment. This fun project eventually was bought by British American Tobacco for their brand activation.
